Bensons' radio tie-up delivers beds to children in need

Bensons for Beds has raised over £21,000 in just three weeks, which will help 100 children get a better night’s sleep through the retailer's partnership with Absolute Radio’s Cash for Kids charity.

Together, Bensons and the Bauer Media-owned charity will use the money to provide bed frames and mattresses to children or charities that work with children around the UK.

And because sleep matters, Bensons is topping up the donation to make sure a full 100 beds can be sent, alongside pillows and duvets.

During their show on 18th July, Absolute drive-time presenters Bush and Richie highlighted the impact the economic climate is having on families across the UK, shining a spotlight on the implications of poverty for millions of children across the UK.

Children are sharing beds with their parents and siblings, some are sleeping on mattresses on the floor, and in some cases are having to resort to sleeping on the floor. Lack of sleep has long-lasting implications for children, affecting their ability to concentrate at school, which directly affects their life chances.

Nick Collard, chief executive of Bensons, says: “We know how important a good night’s sleep is for everyone – but especially children who need that foundation for life and learning. We were delighted to support a cause so close to our hearts and provide bed frames and mattresses to make sure 100 children have a bed of their own.”

Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity helping children across the UK. Bensons has been a long-term partner of Bauer’s Cash for Kids charity work – it has supported Cash for Kids for over four years through Mission Christmas, allowing children to wake up on Christmas Day with a gift. Bensons also partnered with the charity during the pandemic to support struggling families.
