A new partnership will provide members of British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM) with free access to a ‘first responder’ helpline offering guidance and support relating to accidents or HSE interventions.
BFM has joined forces with Didac – a specialist in training, health and safety in the woodworking, furniture and warehousing sectors – to offer the ‘triage’ helpline for free, with discounted rates for members requiring other services.
The helpline will be available via BFM, and members will be able to set out their query and receive guidance and support. If additional support is needed, Didac will either quote for work to be done or suggest a referral if it does not offer the service required.
BFM MD Phil Spademan says: “We’re delighted to welcome Didac as an Associate Member of the BFM and pleased that this new partnership will offer our members support on health and safety and training from specialists in the furniture and warehousing sectors.
“As well as providing the free helpline – which we anticipate will be a valuable resource for BFM members – Didac is also offering discounted rates on other services.”
Didac’s Health and Safety Consultancy services include Company Health & Safety Audits, risk assessments, woodworking machinery audits and dust monitoring surveys. The company also provides a variety of specialist training from PUWER-compliant novice and refresher woodworking machinery training to ITSSAR-accredited plant and vehicle movement training.
Director at Didac, Martin James, says: “Working with trade associations has proven to be the best way to offer our First Response service, so we are delighted to have partnered with the BFM and their members. Because we have specialised in the sector we can respond with timely accurate advice in situations where companies might be under pressure from an HSE improvement notice or a RIDDOR reportable accident, for example.”
