Eight British upholstery manufacturers recently displayed their products in Moscow for the first time, under the BFM Exclusively British banner.
The residence of Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Russia was the palatial setting for the day-long exhibit. Over 400 retail buyers, interior designers, contract buyers, architects, specifiers, end-users and trade press met with the manufacturers – Saxon Furniture, Alstons, Vale-Bridgecraft, John Sankey, David Gundry, Whitemeadow, Wesley Barrell and David Gascoigne.
The buyers were impressed with the range of upholstery on display – in particular the design, fabric choice and price – and many placed orders on the day.
Adam Mason, commercial director of the BFM, says: “We have been operating the Exclusively British brand in Moscow for the past two years. Selling products on behalf of our members from samples and catalogues has been challenging, but our representatives, Russianality, have done a sterling job. Getting product in front of people and gauging their reactions was the next natural step to take, and we are delighted with the response received.”
