The furniture industry turned out in force for The Furniture Makers’ annual Big Shots day last Thursday. Some 33 teams, comprising a mix of experts, novices, keen amateurs and first timers, took part in the event at the EJ Churchill shooting grounds in High Wycombe.
“It was fantastic to see such a good level of support in what is undoubtedly a tough economic climate,” says the Furniture Makers’ charity president, Tony Attard.
The one-day shoot – sponsored principally by Furniture Village, as well as BrightHouse, KI UK, Chaucer Logistics, Kolorcraft, Designer Contracts and Collins & Hayes – raised over £21,000 for the furnishing industry’s only dedicated charity. The annual clay pigeon shoot has raised over £400,000 for the charity over the years.
Jonathan Hindle, master of the Furniture Makers, says: “What an incredible day – the event raised a fantastic amount to help those who need it the most. And, once again, it was a great opportunity for people from right across the industry to get together and network on an informal basis.”
Top shots of the day included Lucy Cooper who won Top Gun (female), Wayne Simpson took Top Gun (male), while the Top Team award went to JH Haskins & Son.
The full results of the competition were:
