British contemporary furniture maker Case will welcome visitors to this year’s designjunction Milan with a dedicated cafe.
Housed in the derelict surrounds of Casa dell’Opera, in the San Babila area of Milan’s city centre, designjunction will run from 15-19th April 2015. The specially-designed Case cafe will enable visitors to experience the comfort and refined elegance of Japanese-born designer Shin Azumi’s Loku range, which has now been extended to include tables and stools of different heights, whilst enjoying coffee by renowned Italian espresso machine maker La Marzocco.
Azumi’s exploration of efficient methods of advanced three-dimensional veneer technology has allowed the shell of Loku to be moulded into more complex forms. Made from a thin plywood veneer that is shaped and pressed to form tight curves, the chair’s shell is visually and physically light yet very supportive and robust.
The Loku chair is available with a wood and metal or steel tube base, in oak or walnut plywood and with or without a leather seat pad.
In addition to the Case Café, the latest design pieces from Case, including Robin Day’s iconic 675 chair, Lap Shelving system by Marina Bautier and Matthew Hilton’s popular Theo sofa, will be displayed on stand F3, located on the first floor.
