Charity shooting event raises £24,000

The Furniture Makers’ Company’s clay pigeon shoot fundraiser, Big Shots, which took place earlier this month, raised £24,000 for the charity.

Around 140 people, making up 35 teams, took part in the 24th annual fundraiser, which was once again held at the EJ Churchill Shooting Ground in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire on 6th June.

The guests took part in a day of traditional clay pigeon shooting as well as some novelty stands, including axe throwing, paintballing marksmanship and the classic blunderbuss.

The Furniture Makers’ Company would like to thank main sponsor and corporate member Furniture Village, as well as the other companies that supported Big Shots through sponsorship or a donation to the auction and raffle: Amazing Venues, Cabinet Maker, Celtheath, Colourfast World, Creo, Davy’s of London, CH & Co Venues, J H Haskins & Son, Knoll International, Natuzzi, The Tusler Studio, Peroda Furniture and ViSpring.

Hayden Davies, master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, says: “Yet again Big Shots delighted everyone who attended. It is one of our longest-running fundraisers and always raises a significant amount of money for the charity as well as offering a great informal networking opportunity for industry colleagues. As always, we’d like to thank Furniture Village for their continued support in sponsoring and helping organise the day. We look forward to celebrating 25 years of Big Shots in 2019.”

Charlie Harrison, director of multichannel at Furniture Village and organiser of the event, says: “Although I was unable to attend this year’s Big Shots event, the feedback from everyone I’ve spoken to has once again been exceptional. This has definitely become the social event of the year within our fantastic industry and, with the 25th anniversary next year, we’re looking forward to putting together something special. On behalf of all the team at Furniture Village, thank you for your continued support of Big Shots and The Furniture Makers’ Company.”

The full results of the competition were: Top Gun (Male), Roland Govier (J H Haskins & Son); Top Gun (Female), Nikki Verster (Furniture Village); Top Gun (Novice), William Porter (Gryphon Property Partners); Top Team, Haskins Hot Shots (J H Haskins & Son); Runner Up Team, Peroda Old Boys (Peroda Furniture); Bottom Team, Greenlight Gunners (Greenlight Commerce); and Four Man Flurry, Haskins Hot Shots (J H Haskins & Son).
