Cookes Furniture is inviting locals to join them for an autumn-themed afternoon tea at its Erdington store to raise money for the Cancer Support Centre in Sutton Coldfield.
Tickets for the event to be held at 2pm on Thursday 12th October 2017 at Cookes’ in-store restaurant, Edwards, are £10 and include fizz, tea, coffee, sandwiches and cake, with all proceeds going to the charity.
With the MD of Cookes Furniture, James Pike, appointed as patron for the charity, the retail outlet has ploughed all its fundraising efforts this year into supporting the wonderful work of the Cancer Support Centre.
Having recently completed the 100-mile Velo Birmingham cycle challenge in aid of the Sutton Coldfield-based charity, Cookes has raised more than £7000 to date and plans to boost this total at the upcoming afternoon tea event.
The Cancer Support Centre, based on Lindridge Road, works alongside local health services, hospices and other cancer charities to provide people affected by cancer and their carers with access to support, information and complementary therapies at every stage of their cancer journey. The centre has been operating since 1999 when it began as a fortnightly evening Relaxation and Support Group and has since grown to offer its services five days a week.
Vanessa Hoe, marketing director at Cookes Furniture, says: “As a run family business, we are extremely passionate about supporting local charities and have worked closely with the Cancer Support Centre for a number of years.
"Following the appointment of James as the patron for the charity, we are putting everything into raising funds and awareness of this worthy cause.
"We really admire all the wonderful work they do for people affected by cancer. As our previous event in March was a total sell out we are expecting a great turnout and hope to raise a record amount for this fantastic charity."
Tickets for the afternoon tea event can be purchased by calling 0773 953 5311 or emailing [email protected] at the Cancer Support Centre.
