Office furniture manufacturer and wholesaler, DAMS, has invested £0.5m in a new upholstery department at its Knowsley headquarters, creating 10 new jobs and offering customers a host of new fabric specifications on a wide range of existing and new chairs and screens.
The move is part of an ambitious expansion programme by DAMS, which last year increased its turnover by 10%, and moved into newly refurbished offices. This investment will allow for the refurbishment of a new unit adjacent to its 55,000ft² manufacturing plant, in addition to the acquisition of new upholstery equipment that will ensure consistent quality across both stock fabric options and bespoke upholstery finishes.
"Increasingly, fabric colours and patterns that match corporate branding or complement interior colour schemes are being used in commercial environments to customise the office space," says managing director of DAMS, Chris Scott. "Creating an upholstery service in-house means that we can offer customers the ability to select their choice of fabric from a wide range or even provide their own fabric while still ensuring that they receive the consistent quality, excellent service and competitive lead times that DAMS provides across our own-label ranges.”
DAMS now offers custom-upholstered seating and screens in any Camira or Bradbury fabric, and has now extended its seating ranges for 2014 to maximise the choice available to customers. The upholstery service covers operator and task seating, conference seating, breakout seating, reception area seating and upholstered screens, with lead times of just 14 days on bespoke orders, and next day delivery on all upholstered stock items.
Chris continues: “As a UK manufacturer, one of the key points of difference that we can offer customers is consistent and accountable product quality with a short distribution chain and fast turnaround. The new upholstery department continues this commitment while adding the level of choice that businesses are looking for to make their office unique to them.”
