Directorial changes at Gainsborough and Swanglen

Jerry Yates, MD of high quality bed and sofa bed manufacturer Gainsborough, is set to retire after 30 years in the post. Jerry announced to parent company Airsprung Group's board his intention some months ago and has spent the intervening time working very closely with his successor to provide a seamless transition.

Taking the reins in full from March is Nick Gigg, currently sales and marketing director for Bristol based sister company Swanglen Furnishings, the leading UK headboard and occasional furniture manufacturer. Nick's experience since joining Swanglen of delivering substantial growth and innovation will be invaluable at Gainsborough. Nick first joined Airsprung Group over a decade ago and has enjoyed successful roles with every manufacturing subsidiary of the group.

Nick says: "Gainsborough today is a successful high end manufacturer supplying leading retailers, including some of the most prestigious high street brands. I believe, however, that there is a lot more we can achieve, and working with my management team, I will bring renewed vigour and a focus on developing our brand proposition."

Nick's promotion naturally leaves a vacancy at Swanglen and this will be filled by another internal appointment, Peter Ridpath. Peter has been a trade sector manager for Airsprung Beds for 10 years and has worked with some of the biggest names in home shopping and digital retailing. Peter has also worked closely with Nick through the transition period and will take full control of Swanglen during March.

The main aim is to build on the successful initiatives that have been recently introduced. Peter says: "I aim to continue brand growth and market penetration. Ultimately, I want Swanglen to be the 'go to' manufacturer for all retailers looking for headboards and occasional furniture."

Airpsrung Group CEO, Tony Lisanti, says: "Jerry has worked for the group for virtually his whole adult life and his contribution is immeasurable. I am delighted however to see the next generation of furniture professionals coming through, and with Nick and Peter's history within the group it is extremely gratifying to see home-grown talent being recognised and rewarded."
