Dreams wins International Safety Award for bed manufacturing facility

The Dreams manufacturing facility based in Oldbury – known as the Dreams Bed Factory – has won an International Safety Award from the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe during the 2014 calendar year.

Opened in 2006, the Dreams Bed Factory employs 177 staff and is located on Granada Trading Estate, Oldbury, West Midlands.

Now in its 57th year, the International Safety Awards seek to celebrate and promote the success of the winning organisations and their employees in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. They are open to businesses, public and third sector bodies of all sizes and sectors. The 2015 award winners have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health.

More than 500 organisations won an International Safety Award for 2015, and the winning organisations span all sectors and range from the United Kingdom, Africa, Asia, mainland Europe, the Middle East and the West Indies.

Neal Stone, acting chief executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated the Dreams Bed Factory on its success: “On behalf of the Trustees and staff of the British Safety Council we warmly congratulate the Dreams Bed Factory and its employees on gaining an International Safety Award with pass for 2015. All of those working at the Dreams Bed Factory have made this award possible, which recognises their commitment to preventing injury and ill health in the workplace.

“Winning organisations recognise that proportionate and sensible management of occupational health and safety risks brings real benefits to the organisation, its people and society.

“The International Safety Awards rightly reflect the importance of aiming for good standards of health and safety at work. The Dreams Bed Factory should rightly be proud of its achievement. Our warmest congratulations.”

Alongside all the other winning organisations, Dreams will be presented the award at a Gala Dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on Friday 24th April. The event will be hosted by the broadcaster and journalist Louise Minchin.
