Fira-International has welcomed Jim Taylour as its new head of ergonomics. A chartered ergonomist with more than 35 years' experience in the office and education furniture sectors, Jim has held senior roles with leading organisations including Gordon Russell, Giroflex and Orangebox.
Widely recognised for his expertise in workplace wellbeing, inclusion and hybrid working, Jim has published numerous papers on ergonomics and currently chairs the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors' Workplace Ergonomics Special Interest Group.
In his new role, Jim will support clients across all aspects of ergonomics, from product design and development through to final assessment, helping to ensure both contract and domestic products meet "the highest standards of ergonomic excellence".
Jim replaces Claire Clark who, after nine years with Fira-International, has decided to move on to new opportunities, having played a pivotal role in the growth of the business' ergonomics department, working alongside Levent Caglar to develop pressure-mapping consultancy and research services, spearhead new ventures in passenger-train seat-comfort assessment, and lead initiatives to rethink the provision of educational furniture in schools.
