The Flemish upholstery fabrics and trimmings industry is at the vanguard of the European weaving industry and among the most productive, innovative and successful in the world. It owes this enviable position to a combination of centuries-old craftsmanship with constant innovation in design and technology and its flexibility.
The historical weaving links between Flanders and the United Kingdom are underlined by the importance of the British market as the main export market for 60, mostly family-owned, weaving mills which are all situated in an area of a few square miles around the river Lys. They were able to maintain their position in the market and even to strengthen it, because of their belief and investments in the future of weaving in Flanders.
Continuing a vibrant annual tradition, key players of the Flemish textile industry will gather on 24th and 25th February for their annual London Fabric Show at the Naval & Military Club, 4 St James’ Square SW1Y 4JU.
Pre-register online by e-mailing Mike Dimond at [email protected]. The show will allow visitors to experience these striking fabrics up close and to acquaint – or reacquaint – themselves with the leading Flemish textile mills, which succeed in uniting creativity and flexibility.
