Burnley College and UCLan Burnley School of Furniture will be presenting an exhibition of students’ work at Towneley Hall, Burnley, open to the public from Wednesday 11th June 2014 until Wednesday 2nd July.
The exhibition will be opened by Master of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, Paul von der Heyde, on June 10th, after which a private preview event will take place from 2pm for invited guests.
Students will attend the private preview event to speak about their pieces and the work they have accomplished over the past year within the School of Furniture.
Each year students present a very high standard of work to display at our Towneley Hall exhibition. This year’s display will include pieces from Young Designer of the Year Construction Development Alliance Award winner Martin Clegg as well as striking pieces designed and constructed by talented students, some of whom have already been offered work and apprenticeships at furniture and restoration companies across the North West.
Head of Construction, John Shaw, explained why the show is so important to students and the college alike: “Exhibiting our students’ work at Towneley Hall is a fantastic way to showcase just how good their work has been over the previous year. We’re always very impressed with the level of effort and commitment each student puts in and this year has seen some very professional results in their finished pieces. We’re extremely impressed and proud with them all!”
