Furniture Village refurbishes Abingdon store and reunites with one of its first ever customers

To mark its 25th anniversary and the re-launch of its first store in Abingdon, the UK’s largest independent furniture retailer, Furniture Village, has located one of its first ever customers, Keith McCartney, who has described his experience and memories whilst furnishing his new home in Old Headington, Oxford.

To thank Keith McCartney for his support in the early days of the company and for giving up his time to discuss his recollections, Furniture Village has made a donation to Keith’s chosen charity, Against Breast Cancer (based in Abingdon).

Furniture Village is still a family-run business with chief executive, Peter Harrison, having founded the company in 1989. His son Charlie joined the company in 2002 and over-time has progressed into the role of director of marketing, overseeing the company’s rapidly-evolving communications strategy.

The refurbishment of the Abingdon store involves a brand new look in store, including fresh product ranges and bespoke offers for customers.

Keith commented on his first experience with Furniture Village: "We met Peter Harrison and other members of his staff and immediately formed an excellent relationship. Not only did we enjoy encouraging deals on many items of furniture, Peter offered the same opportunities to many of my relocating staff when they also moved into their new homes. It was instant gratitude and business all round!

"What struck us immediately was the quality, style and range of home furniture, plus the product knowledge and friendliness of the staff. Over the past 24 years, we have moved twice and renewed many items of our furniture from Furniture Village. The undoubted success of Furniture Village can be attributed to Peter’s consistent strategy of excellent selection and training of staff."

Furniture Village was also pleased to donate a massage chair to Against Breast Cancer.
