The UK’s largest family-run furniture retailer, Furniture Village, is set to open two new stores on Boxing Day this year, in Leicester and Crawley.
The new stores are the first to open since 2017, and mark the start of a new phase of expansion for the business.
Located in Fosse Park, Leicester and County Oak, Crawley, the units total 24,000 sqft and 30,000 sqft respectively, and will each house a Carpetright concession. The additions will take Furniture Village’s store portfolio to 54, with further expansion being considered for the future, including possible locations in Scotland.
Charlie Harrison, commercial director, comments: “We are delighted to announce the opening of two new stores, in fantastic locations in Leicester and West Sussex, and look forward to welcoming customers through the doors on Boxing Day.
“It’s been a challenging year for everyone in the retail sector, but as a business we’ve spent the last nine months ensuring that we can continue to offer the best of the best, in terms of product range and quality, as well as service.
“Customer safety is still, and will continue to be, a priority for us, and the feedback from all of our existing stores continues to be overwhelmingly positive, with the appointment booking system providing reassurance and exceptional service for customers.”
Despite losses incurred during the first lockdown, Furniture Village’s sales are up +25% YoY, with online sales showing a +90% increase YoY. As a result, 150 new roles have been created to meet demand, taking the total number of staff to 1140.
