Habitat to launch Design Reunion project

Habitat will launch its Design Reunion project in September and welcome back acclaimed designers including Shin Azumi, Tord Boontje, Sarah Campbell, Claire Norcross, Simon Pengelly and Aaron Probyn as part of its 50th birthday celebrations. Each has created an exclusive design for Habitat's AW14 collection, working with creative director Polly Dickens to develop a range of statement pieces across lighting, furniture and textiles.

Habitat will also host a special Design Reunion exhibition in the Platform gallery space above its King’s Road store in September 2014 for London Design Festival. Curated by Polly Dickens, the multi-sensory exhibit will ask audiences to make their way through a winding maze that reveals each designer's inspiration and new product through a series of immersive installations. A schedule of designer talks will also be announced shortly.

“We wanted to create a collection that would both celebrate our birthday and become an intrinsic part of our range, by working with a group of designers who fundamentally understand Habitat,” says Polly. “The designers were briefed by the Habitat team within quite tight parameters, with potential materials, resources, and pricing all being part of the initial conversations. Each designer has responded in their own inimitable way, and it has been fascinating to follow the process from start to finish, as well as to see the way they have evolved from their earlier design work for Habitat.”

The Design Reunion collection will launch in September 2014, available from Habitat stores and its website.
