Harrison Spinks, one of Great Britain’s most established and innovative bed makers, has appointed a new manufacturing director.
Michael Dingwall will replace Harrison Spinks’ long-standing director, Don Parkes, who has been with the company for more than 12 years and has been instrumental in growing the business to be an industry leader.
With more than 18 years’ experience gained at Silentnight, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the new role. He will be operationally responsible for all of Harrison Spinks’ bed division, covering mattress, divan and headboard manufacturing, as well as HR, process control, work-study, maintenance and health and safety.
Michael joined Silentnight’s graduate management programme as a trainee in 1997, which enabled him to work in every department within the company before specialising in manufacturing.
“With unrivalled spring technology, Harrison Spinks is recognised as an innovative leader within the bed industry; and with such a positive and dynamic management team, I’m really looking forward to developing my expertise and working hard to take the business forward,” says Michael.
In addition, Michael has also chaired the furniture industry’s Trailblazer Group, which consists of representatives from numerous companies, training providers and industry bodies to re-write the apprenticeship standards for the sector.
Simon Spinks, managing director of Harrison Spinks, says: “Michael has a varied and extensive skill set that will be valuable in helping us to continue our mission to be the most vertically integrated bed manufacturer in the world. His experience gained at Silentnight will help to maintain our consistent high quality while bringing new, fresh ideas to our processes.”
