Last week, luxury bed and component manufacturer Harrison Spinks was recognised for its innovative spring technology at the National Insider Media – Made In The UK awards.
Harrison Spinks competed against eight regional winners to land the prestigious national Advanced Manufacturing Innovation/Creative Design Award. The event was attended by 800 people representing some of the best of British manufacturing.
The award recognises the unique and innovative pocket spring technology utilised in Harrison Spinks' mattresses, cot mattresses, automotive seating, footwear and other comfort environments.
The award was presented to Michael Bates, newly-appointed joint MD, and Amanda Shea, finance director, at a ceremony at the BT Convention Centre in Liverpool.
Simon Spinks, joint MD, says: “The pursuit of luxurious comfort in our Harrison and Somnus mattresses has led us to revolutionise mattress construction through the invention and use of miniature pocket springs. Successfully using the springs in mattress production has then encouraged us to seek out new channels and markets. So, not only do we use our spring technology for our own adult mattress brands, but we also use them in the production of luxury cot mattresses and automotive seating. We are even using the springs in leisure and performance footwear, delivering outstanding levels of comfort.
"This award underpins our business ethos and our relentless pursuit of new and innovative manufacturing processes and materials. We like to innovate and build expertise in-house - from growing and processing wool and hemp used in our mattresses on our own farm to our unique pocket springs. I am very proud that the company has been honoured in this way – a truly magnificent achievement considering the talent across the whole of UK manufacturing.”
