BBC News has reported that the Home Retail Group (HRG) has sold its Homebase store in Battersea to a residential property developer for £57m.
The group plans to close 25 Homebase stores by early March 2015, citing the pressure of growing online sales and the need to "position Homebase as a smaller but stronger business, ready for investment and growth", according to chief executive of HRG, John Walden.
