IKEA will open the doors of its brand-new Plan and Order Point in Aberdeen on Wednesday, 14th October, at 10am. Located in the heart of the city in Union Square, the new store will make it easier for Aberdeen customers to shop with IKEA.
IKEA Plan and Order Points are smaller stores, designed to provide customers with bespoke kitchen, bedrooms and storage planning services. At IKEA’s new home in Union Square, customers will be able to access home furnishing advice and expertise, assisting them in planning, purchasing and installing their kitchens, bedroom and living room storage.
Customers will be able to shop from a curated range of around 600 home furnishing accessories available for immediate takeaway. A collection area for online orders will also be located in the store, with customers able to return IKEA purchases there.
Once open, customers will be able to drop in or book an appointment online to start their design. Products can then be ordered from across the full IKEA range for delivery direct to the customer’s home, to the Plan and Order Point or a Click and Collect location of their choice.
IKEA closed its Aberdeen Order and Collection Point in Wellington Square on 1st March, as part of the retailer's transition to a new planning-led format in Aberdeen city centre.

The opening of the new-format store in Aberdeen will bolster the retailer’s presence in Scotland, complementing existing IKEA stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow, a Plan and Order Point in Dundee, and in-home planning services available throughout the Inverness area.
It comes after IKEA opened seven new UK stores last year, with two city centre stores on London’s Oxford Street and in Brighton, two new Plan and Order Points in Hull and York, and three new-format small stores in retail park locations in Harlow, Norwich and Chester.
