imm cologne improves upholstery hall

Every year, more than 250 companies from Germany and abroad present their new products to a global audience at imm cologne. Foreign trade visitors particularly appreciate the Cologne venue with its overview of the upholstered furniture market. This is due to the Comfort segment in Halls 6 and 10.2 and Pure, especially in Hall 11. 'Making a good thing even better' is one of the key ideas behind the imm cologne, and it is in this spirit that the concept for Hall 10.2 is being revised for the next event. The goal is to ensure an even higher volume of visitors and enhance the hall's appeal for interior designers, representatives from the contract sector and international visitors. The concept has already convinced upholstered furniture producer Frommholz, which will be exhibiting at the imm cologne again in 2014.

German and international upholstered furniture producers present a complete picture of their sector at imm cologne. Every year, the exhibitors include around 80 German and 190 foreign producers who turn Cologne into the upholstered furniture capital of Germany. As early as six months before the start of the trade fair, Comfort was already almost completely booked up, an indication of just how successful this segment is. It attracts top-performing and internationally established companies such as ADA, Koinor, Polipol, E. Schillig and W. Schillig. Dick Spierenburg, Creative Director of Koelnmesse, and Uwe Deitersen, project manager of imm cologne, are in charge of the structural revision. Spierenburg wants Hall 10.2's appeal to be based not just on a compelling line-up of top-notch exhibitors but on an inspiring, multi-themed presentation of their performance potential as well.

The revised concept has already proved convincing - after a one-year absence, upholstered furniture producer Frommholz is returning to imm cologne in 2014 with a 300 m sq booth in Hall 10.2. For the Spenge-based company, the Cologne furnishing fair continues to play a crucial role in fostering its national and international contacts. Together with other exhibitors, Frommholz will also be taking part in the new project 'Cozy & Crazy – The Mood Lounge @ Hall 10.2', which aims to demonstrate the highly relevant role played by light and colour in interior worlds and design. The lounge will be divided into various bays and immersed in a series of different lighting moods and atmospheres. A piece of upholstered furniture will occupy centre stage in each of the bays, altering its charisma and impact under the influence of the changing lighting conditions and thus reflecting the scope it provides for individual designability. In addition, another lounge in the same hall will present the theme of augmented reality in collaboration with a media partner.

"Even when a hall is working well and successful, we believe it is important to keep developing it on a regular basis and adapt to changing interests. With the new creative concept, we are enhancing Hall 10.2 once again and continuing to demonstrate the imm cologne's status as the capital of upholstered furniture," explains Frank Haubold, vice president Trade Fair Management.

imm cologne is a key furnishing show in one of the world's most important furnishing markets. Right at the start of every year, it presents the latest international furniture and interior trends and creates a compelling and highly effective business atmosphere. The breadth and depth of what is on show ranges from self-assembly furniture all the way to premium brands and visionary product designs. In 2014, the 65th imm cologne will be joined by the two-yearly LivingInteriors event, which showcases integrated interior and furnishing concepts. It focuses on the areas that turn a house into a home: bathrooms, flooring, wall coverings, home textiles and lighting. Together with the furniture fair, LivingInteriors paints a comprehensive and innovatively presented picture of the entire world of interiors. Around 1,100 international exhibitors and approx. 120,000 visitors from more than 110 countries are expected to attend the imm cologne and LivingInteriors.
