Artisan Furniture, a purpose-led, community-driven and socially responsible furntiure importer, has successfully completed banking giant Goldman Sachs’ 10SKB Programme for high-growth SMEs.
This mentoring scheme saw Artisan Furniture’s founder, Amit Basu (pictured), engage in an intensive, months-long programme of seminars, presentations and lectures regarding the process through which an SME can become economically successful, financially robust and sustainable in the long term.
The latter was key for Artisan Furniture, given its business model, which places an emphasis on communal welfare and a sustainable production line that relies on small, artisanal hamlets dotted across northern India to craft, pack and ship products. This underlying ethos of grassroots production was closely looked at in the 10KSB Programme, and analysed for potential growth and improvement.
Amit says the programme gave Artisan Furniture the necessary tools and techniques to back its "Vision 2030 Goals” such as a trade expansion into the EU, consolidating US operations from coast to coast, as well as expanding the product SKUs beyond furniture to home living accessories, while remaining true to the company's communal, sustainable roots.
