John Sankey parent company Meadowmead awarded Manufacturing Guild Mark

Upholstery manufacturer John Sankey’s parent company Meadowmead has been awarded a prestigious Manufacturing Guild Mark (MGM), available only to the top 50 furniture and furnishing manufacturers in the UK, demonstrating excellence in furniture manufacturing.

The MGM is awarded to companies who meet the highest standards of manufacturing, design, product quality, marketing, finance, commitment to training, employment conditions and sustainability. The Guild Mark schemes are administered by the Furniture Makers’ Company, the City of London livery company and central organisation of the furniture industry.

Meadowmead was successfully assessed against the rigorous criteria required for the MGM and independently audited by FIRA on behalf of the Furniture Makers Company. “We’re delighted that Meadowmead have been approved and we welcome the company, John Sankey and all its other brands and hope they are able to benefit fully from the prestige that goes with earning this accolade,” says the MGM committee chairman, Jessica Alexander.

John Sankey is one of four brands belonging to parent company Meadowmead - manufactured alongside Henderson Russell, own label brand iD and timber components and showwood furniture specialists for the contract and hospitality sector, Barton Furniture, at the company’s Derbyshire-based factory, where over 70 people are employed. Meticulous design, painstaking product development and rigorous manufacturing have helped to establish Meadowmead at the forefront of the UK furniture industry over the past 10 years, with its four brands encompassing retail, contract, bespoke and own label markets.

“We are very proud of our unique John Sankey collection aimed at the UK retail market and our other lines of beautifully designed, high quality sofas & chairs and to have our company recognised with the prestigious Manufacturing Guild Mark,” says Meadowmead director Matthew O’Flynn. “We look forward to building this accolade into the brand’s new marketing strategy, to be launched at the Interiors show in January."
