Justin Van Breda to launch Mineral collection at Decorex International

The London-based furniture and interior designer, Justin Van Breda, will launch Mineral, an elegant new range of furniture at this year’s Decorex International (21-24 September 2014), a leading design and interior fair.

Classically inspired, with contemporary detailing, the Mineral collection includes items of sphere furniture that combine wood and metal to create timeless designs. This collection also comprises the Lucille and Margot range, which will be launched at this year’s Decorex, and includes occasional dining, bedroom and upholstery pieces.

Recognisable by its signature motif seen on each of the legs throughout the collection, the sphere component was inspired by the enduring ball and claw detail found on traditional furniture. Slender legs support the modern cabinets, tables and chairs creating a light and fine feel to each piece. Together these details, along with the knotted frame seen in the side table, compliment the wood tabletops available in a variety of woods, including mahogany, dark grey oak and walnut.

It was a desire to return to his roots that saw Justin collaborating with a locally based forge in South Africa, to produce the metal components needed for this collection. The result is a wide selection of finishes including various bronzes, polish stainless steel and antique brass that combine well with the fine crafted timber components, all handmade in Europe. British designed, all pieces are handmade and can be customised according to a customer’s specification and need.
