JYSK signs contracts for new Netherlands DC

JYSK has signed contracts with two specialised companies, Körber and voestalpine, to deliver the automation and high-bay warehouses for the global home furnishing retailer’s new DC in Lelystad, the Netherlands.

The current forwarded DC in Lelystad in the Netherlands will, as planned, be upgraded to a full-size, state-of-the-art DC.

“We paused the construction plans in March 2022 due to increased prices on raw materials and services as a result of the uncertainties in the world. Now we are happy to be one step closer to starting the construction, which will reduce the driving distance to JYSK stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK and Ireland, and thereby bring us closer to our customers,” says Ole Thomsen, executive VP logistics at JYSK.

In addition to the benefits in distribution, the new DC will be highly automated. Currently, 57 employees work in the forwarded DC, and the logistics hub will create more than 250 new jobs once it is fully operational.

JYSK expects construction to begin this year, and the new 140,000 sqm DC is expected to be operational in 2026.
