Jysk is to begin the construction of a new distribution centre in Bozhuriste near Sofia, Bulgaria.
The signing of the contract between Jysk and the state-owned development company NCIZ was attended by Bulgarian deputy Prime Minister, Tomislav Donchev, and Minister of Economy, Bozhidar Lukarski.
"This underlines the importance of the project," saysd Allan Kjærgaard, EVP of logistics for Jysk, "not only for Jysk but for Bulgaria and the country's efforts to attract foreign investments as well."
Jysk plans to invest approximately €100m in the construction of the 85,000 sqm distribution centre.
"Jysk is a rapidly-growing company," says Allan, "especially concerning the number of countries where we are present. This makes it crucial for us to develop our distribution, making sure that both our stores and our customers get their deliveries on time. This is the reason for the construction of a new distribution centre in Bulgaria, which in time will serve the whole Balkan area."
The retailer currently has distribution centres in Radomsko in Poland, Nassjö in Sweden and Uldum in Denmark.
