Leading independent bed retailer Land of Beds has won the Family Business Award of Excellence at Cheshire’s 10th annual High Sheriff’s Awards for Enterprise 2015-16. The awards recognise leaders of outstanding businesses in Cheshire, Warrington and Halton.
Other finalists in the highly-competitive category were Hollies Farm Shop, Farrat Isolevel Ltd and JPCS Ltd.
“We are absolutely delighted with the judges’ comments,” says Land of Beds' MD Mike Murray. “They said they had never seen such a vivacious business, which is testament to our staff of 24 employees, the support of the leading bed manufacturers we work with, and of course our wonderful customers. I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to our success over the past 40 years-plus.
‘Our driving passion is unlocking the potential in our staff every day to deliver a marketing-leading service. We want to become the best customer service company in the UK.”
Land of Beds’ achievements in the past 12 months include being commended in the National Bed Federation’s Bed Industry Awards 2015-16 for the third time in the past four years and opening a new distribution centre at Astmoor Industrial Estate, in Runcorn. A second showroom in Frodsham will open on 18th March as part of Land of Beds' strategic plan to open five more stores in five years.
Professor Phil Harris, the chairman of the organising committee of the Awards, which are presented in partnership with the University of Chester, says: “The strength, quality and depth of the companies this year is excellent. They represent some of the best and make a real difference to the quality of our life in the region and UK.”
Bill Holroyd, the High Sheriff of Cheshire, says: “We are extraordinarily fortunate to have such a range of vibrant businesses in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington. The contribution they make to both our economy and their local communities is vital for the well-being of our county and it is wonderful to have the opportunity to applaud their work."
