The Furniture Industry Research Association has published its latest Quarterly Standards Update, which is available to all members of the association.
The update includes details of a new standard - BS EN 581. Part 1. 2017. Outdoor furniture. Seating and tables for camping, domestic and contract use. General safety requirements - which was published in March 2017.
Further standards covered in the update include those related to non-domestic tables and desks/office desks, non-domestic seating/office seating, beds, domestic seating, domestic tables, kitchens, outdoor furniture, children's furniture, laboratory furniture, hardware, surface finishes and fabrics.
Members of FIRA can download the update at no cost here. Members can also use FIRA’s Standards Database to find out more about all standards relating to the furniture industry, details available include whether the standard is live, or has been replaced by a new standard. The comprehensive database, which is constantly updated to ensure it is current, can be assessed here.
The next Quarterly Standards Update from the association is due out late September and December.
