OnBuy, a new online marketplace, is due to launch soon, which will debut onto a scene dominated by two of the world’s most dominant companies, Amazon and eBay.
Twenty-eight year old MD Cas Paton, who also founded leading UK web development agency, OnTop Media - which has worked on systems for organisations such as the MOD and NATO – came up with the idea after years of seeing shoppers’ frustrations with eBay and sellers’ frustrations with Amazon. He decided that an easy to use online marketplace which takes the most successful aspects from both market leaders, and combines them within a unique navigation framework, would attract a high level of attention.
Developed by a team of leading web experts, OnBuy has been developed into a distinctly simple marketplace, due to its navigation structure. Shoppers are able to search for a product, and then add a bespoke range of filters, while an exclusive discounting structure will enable shoppers to find the best deals around on a range of different products – from hand-crafted items to the latest technology releases. OnBuy will offer sellers a unique management service – all they have to do is send over product images and numbers and OnBuy will do all the rest, including uploading and managing their inventories, as well as cheaper fees.
“Basically, we want to offer a better service than the leading marketplaces, for both buyers and sellers,” Cas says.
OnBuy have had a very good month, securing major investment from one of the UK’s leading IT providers, Centerprise International. The Hampshire-based company was founded in 1983 by electronics engineer Rafi Razzak, and has since grown to become the UK’s number one distributor for Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba and ATI. It is also the longest-standing MOD approved IT supplier in the UK, racking up a total of 21 years.
“The value and experience, product reach and support services that Centerprise International offer are going to be fundamental to the success of OnBuy,” says Cas. “They’ve been trading for 30 years, working closely with some of the largest IT companies in the world!”
Garry Stevens, Group CEO of Centerprise International, says: “We see OnBuy becoming part of the way that people buy online, setting new standards in reach and choice.
“The first thing that attracted us to work with Cas and the team on the project was the focus and enthusiasm they have for it. For us, we are always looking for great people to back and we are happy that we can form a long and mutually productive future alliance together.”
