Design brand Made.com is set to make itself at home within London’s tech and startup scene, having opened a new 'working showroom' in Silicon Roundabout.
Staying true to its ethos of unconventional settings for its showrooms – to cut out expensive high-street shops – Made is opening its new ‘working showroom’ in partnership with The Trampery, a social enterprise providing luxury, shared workspace for start-ups in Shoreditch.
Made has provided all the furniture for The Trampery’s new flagship site. Members have access to the furniture at all times, and Made customers wishing to view the pieces on display can do so by appointment.
The Trampery has also set up its own profile within Unboxed, Made’s online platform that connects customers who would like to see its products in a real-life situation before purchase.
Annabel Kilner, head of Made.com UK, says: “Our new working showroom in partnership with The Trampery makes great sense for our brand. Aside from being an extension of Unboxed, we believe in working together with like-minded businesses to grow our audiences, and we share a very similar design-conscious target customer with The Trampery.
“Finally, our two existing showrooms are brimming with customers, so we’re keen to test new locations to understand the impact on sales – not to mention that many of our customers are based in East London and have asked us to open a site in Shoreditch for years!”
This is the third showroom for Made, which currently has a showroom in Newcombe House, a 1960s tower block in Notting Hill Gate, and within Redbrick, a disused mill-turned-design centre in Leeds.
Charles Armstrong, founder of The Trampery, adds: “The partnership with Made is a celebration of two brands that want to support London’s burgeoning start-up scene. The venue just shows the increasingly blurred boundaries between work and social spaces and the emergence of a trend to move away from traditionally dull office furniture and make it reminiscent of a domestic setting.”
Whilst Made’s setting within The Trampery lends itself to a more ‘self-service’ style of retail, private appointments will be available every Wednesday. Bookings can be made here.
