Made opens futuristic showroom in Paris

Made.com is preparing to open its largest and most innovative showroom yet. Situated in the second arrondissement, minutes from the Louvre, the 840 sqm showroom builds on the success of the retailer’s showrooms in Amsterdam, Milan, and London, Leeds and Liverpool in the UK.

Spread over two levels, Made's showroom employs innovation and creativity to fuse the physical and the digital, combining real and virtual products. Customers can discover the products, test and touch them, collate and save information on items of interest through the use of Cloud Tag technology and complete their order online in the showroom, or later at home.

An industry first, the showroom allows consumers to immerse themselves in the products through 3D printing and light projection. The 3D printed model of a product will activate projections of how it appears in customers’ homes on Made’s social showroom, Unboxed. The projections – that will also feature video content, designer and customer comments – will surround visitors in a 360-degree collage in a specially-designed tunnel.

Made continues to support entrepreneurship. The Paris showroom is collaborating with young designers and artistic talent to showcase their creations on a monthly basis.

Ning Li, founder and CEO, comments: “Made and the senior team have deep roots in France, and as such Paris was the natural choice to open our largest and first flagship showroom outside of the UK. It was in France that the idea of Made was first conceived. Not only was France our first overseas market to launch in, back in 2013, but it remains today our largest market after the UK.

"We remain focused on extending our product range, building brand awareness and loyalty across our five markets, which combined are worth £100b. Our model of fusing online sales with the creative use of physical space in key markets to showcase our growing product range is proven, with France being the next stage in our plan. Momentum remains strong across the business and we continue to progress towards our ambition to become Europe’s number one online destination for home design.”

Overseas business now generates 40% of Made's sales.
