Norwich-based Mattressman is continuing with its planned expansion with the opening of two new stores in Ilford and Chingford, bringing the total number of its outlets to 12.
The Ilford store is 1600 sqft and is located on Newbury Park, while the one in Chingford is 2000 sqft and situated on the Deacon Industrial Estate - both are open seven days a week.
"We were sending two lorries a day from our Norwich HQ to London to service our online customers so we knew there was a demand for our products in that area," says Matttressman MD Andrew Kerry.
"Today retailers have to be flexible to succeed and offer customers the option of ordering online or having the opportunity to go and see the goods for themselves and discuss them with knowledgeable and friendly staff. That is why we are continuing to open more stores."
The company is looking to double the amount of outlets over the coming years as Andrew explains: "Firstly we will be opening some more stores around the M25 in the greater London area so we have the capital and its huge population covered. Then we will turn our attention to Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire."
Mattressman was launched in late 2004 by Andrew Kerry as the UK's first online supplier of mattresses. In 2009 it was recognised in the Sunday Times Fast Track Award as ‘Britain's 6th Fastest Growing Company' and in 2011 it won the Eastern Daily Press 'E-commerce Initiative Award'.
Today the company employs 110 members of staff, an annual turnover approaching £16m and 12 stores.
