Maxfurn signals upholstery directions with new DC

Maxfurn plans to open a new DC in Oradea, Romania, which will further support the business' expansion in the UK and Irish markets.

The final contracts were signed three weeks ago, officially launching the construction project, and "notable progress" has been made since, the supplier reports. The new DC is being built right next to its existing production halls.

"With this expansion, Maxfurn not only underlines its ambitious growth strategy, but also the increasing demand for upholstered furniture within its product range," states the supplier. "That’s why the new DC will include a dedicated department for upholstered furniture.

"This initiative is fully aligned with the company’s strategic vision – gaining greater control over quality, lead times, and innovation."

The new upholstery hall will give Maxfurn the opportunity to match dining chairs with its new sofa range, and will significantly enhance its logistics operations. With a storage capacity of 12,500 sqm and 18 loading docks, it means the company will be able to handle large volumes and serve both domestic and international customers faster and more efficiently.

In addition, a state-of-the-art warehouse management system will be integrated to optimise all logistics processes.

The new DC is expected to be fully operational by early 2026.

“The combination of a successful expansion in the UK and Ireland, and the realisation of our own DC marks a new chapter in our development,” says Maxfurn's management team. “We are quite literally building our future – with confidence and vision.”
