Mattress supplier Mlily has donated 26 memory foam mattresses to the Macari Foundation through its charitable giving programme.
The mattresses will be used at the foundation’s new centre in Stoke-on-Trent, which was set up by Lou Macari (pictured) to help tackle the challenges faced by homelessness.
It follows a joint donation made by Manchester United and Mlily to the Macari Foundation in 2022.
Mlily’s CEO Pomi Khan says: “We are pleased to continue our support to Lou and the foundation by providing a further 26 mattresses for the new centre in Stoke-on-Trent.
“The work and support carried out by the Macari Foundation is so important, and we understand the difference it can make to those residents and their lives. This is why providing support through our own charitable giving programme is important to us."
The Macari Foundation was set up by former Manchester United and Scotland international Lou Macari in 2016 to help those who found themselves homeless work towards better lives. The new centre will enable guests to have a space of their own and a permanent address, as well as round-the-clock support from the centre’s trained team.
Speaking to Mlily, Lou praises those involved: “For some of the homeless people we have come into the centre, they may have been sleeping on the streets for a long time, so for them to have a comfortable mattress on their bed is something they probably didn’t expect. But, thanks to Mlily, it has happened.”
The mattresses were supplied from Mlily’s Luton HQ and delivered to the foundation courtesy of DHL, in a collaborative approach by two of Manchester United’s global partners.
Lou adds: “I’d like to thank everybody involved in the operation at Mlily for supplying the mattresses and to DHL for delivering them to us at the centre.”
