Alex Myers has been appointed new CEO and president for the Hilding Anders Group as Anders Pettersson steps up to become chairman of the board of directors. Alex formally begins his role as CEO on 2nd January 2014.
Alex has a long and successful international track record of working in consumer-oriented businesses such as Unilever, Orkla, and Carlsberg. Currently, he is president and CEO of ArjoHuntleigh and executive president of extended care at the Getinge Group, a global provider of medical devices – a position he has held since 2009. Previously, he held the positions of senior VP for Western Europe and global sales and marketing within the Carlsberg Group, along with several commercial positions within Unilever, primarily within foods and ice cream. A Swedish citizen, he was born in Austria, grew up in Greece, studied in the USA and holds a BA from Yale University.
“This is an exciting time to be joining Hilding Anders as we continue to transform the company into a sales and marketing-driven organisation offering innovative brand and private label concepts across Europe, Russia and Asia,” says Alex.
Anders Pettersson joined Hilding Anders two years ago as CEO. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in turning around the underperforming European businesses, investing in further growth opportunities in Russia and Asia and developing a ‘one company’ culture and new governance model.
“During the last two years, Anders has achieved a huge amount, culminating in a successful refinancing of the company’s balance sheet. As the business enters its next phase of strategic development, we are delighted to welcome Alex as CEO who we are confident will continue to lead the business in the right direction,” said Fredrik Arp, chairman of the board of directors.
As a result of these new appointments, Fredrik Arp will step down as chairman but continue as a non-executive director alongside Marc Ciancimino and Nathaniel Zilkha from KKR Asset Management who will also join the board in non-executive roles.
