FIRA has created a new role to head up its customer services team.
Liz Stallman, who first joined the organisation 15 years ago, has been appointed to the role of customer services coordinator for FIRA International’s testing department. Liz will be responsible for managing a team of two experienced testing administrators, who will serve as the main point of contact for customers of FIRA’s furniture and product testing services.
Howard James, testing operations manager for FIRA International, says: “Liz was the ideal candidate for this new role – she is an expert in testing and standards and is best placed to help our customers and members with all their testing enquiries. Our customer services team is part of a new structure within our testing department to ensure that every customer receives excellent service.”
The new team is responsible for coordinating customer service throughout the testing department, bringing together the shared expertise, ensuring timescales are met, testing enquiries are progressed efficiently and administering the FIRA Gold Certification scheme.
Liz joined FIRA in 1998 as a flammability technician, testing foams and fabrics to UK regulations. She then moved from flammability into the physical testing of fabrics as a textile technician, testing fabric to British Standards for strength, abrasion and colour fastness, providing detailed information about its performance. Working her way up to the role of head of upholstery testing, Liz was in charge of flammability, textiles, foams and beds. She was able to influence the standards by representing FIRA on a number of British and European Committees.
In 2007, Liz left the organisation for a few years to gain a broader experience of the industry, before returning to FIRA in 2012 as calibration coordinator.
