The Brussels Furniture Fair has grown into a major aid to the European furniture sector. In 2014 it was once again highly successful, even under difficult market conditions and an internal change of director that did not take place as planned. It has only served to strengthen the team.
One year ago, the Board of Directors expressed its preference for once again appointing Els Van Pelt as interim director to provide guidance for the 2014 fair, only looking for a successor after the fair had ended. Now, after a period of consideration, Lieven Van den Heede will lead the team as its director.
Lieven speaks five languages fluently and is fully up-to-speed on the sector. He is 38 and joined the Brussels Furniture Fair team as a marketing assistant in 2006. The rejuvenated structure provides the Brussels Furniture Fair with new perspectives for further growth as a European commercial platform for the furniture sector.
To enable the handover to run smoothly, Els Van Pelt will for some time remain in the background to coach Lieven, thus making her years of experience available to him. For 2015, the existing success and plans will be taken as the basis for new development. The team is looking forward to a successful 2015 fair from 8-11th November.
