Next has released a trading statement covering its Q1 (to 27th April 2019).
Full price sales were up +4.5% YoY, +1.3% ahead of expectations, which Next attributes to extra store sales driven by the unusually warm weather over the Easter holiday period.
Channel by channel, store retail fell ‐3.6% while online sales grew +11.8%.
"As expected, we experienced strong sales growth during February because sales were adversely affected by extreme winter weather last year," reports Next. "March was broadly in line with our forecast for the full year and, as mentioned above, sales during April were better than expected."
