Swan Retail is working with established furniture and department store retailer Oldrid & Downtown to implement a multichannel solution using the full Swan suite of software within their 6 stores across Boston, Grantham, Gainsborough and Lincoln.
Oldrids & Downtown have been operating with a number of old and disparate systems which have been implemented over the last 25 years to address various requirements across their expanding business. This mix of non-integrated, aging applications resulted in a large time cost in administrating business activities due to having to manually duplicate information and could not provide effective management information at the touch of a button.
Swan Retail was selected because of its ability to offer a fully integrated system which covers all of Oldrids & Downtown’s requirements within a single application and the capability to handle a variety of differing stock types as well as both big ticket (customer special ordering) and small ticket merchandise. Swan also has expertise and experience in Oldrids & Downtown’s retail sectors - department stores, furniture and garden centres.
The installation will be phased over 18 months and is set to include EPoS, accounts, customer special ordering, CRM, furniture functionality, warehousing and mobile. Alongside the roll out of the Swan application, Oldrids & Downtown will be working with Swan's e-commerce partner, Iconography, to launch a new transactional website which will be fully integrated with Swan, providing an efficient and effective multi-channel system.
Swan Retail's David Thompson says: "Oldrids & Downtown will end up with some 105 tills and 140 hosted Swan users, so comfortably one of our largest customers to date. This ability to handle both big ticket and small ticket merchandise is going to be a key future requirement as retailers now start selling mixed merchandise, across all of their channels for up-selling and promotions.”
