Otty Sleep founder shortlisted for entrepreneur award

CEO of Leeds-based online bed-in-a-box retailer Otty Sleep, Michal Szlas, has been shortlisted for the 2018 NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards in the Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year category.

Michal Szlas and Otty Sleep fended off tough competition in order to make the regional shortlist, with a record number of businesses entering the awards nationally across the wide range of categories.

Launched in 2016, Otty Sleep recently launched a technical office in Berlin.

Michal says: “It’s been an amazing 12 months for both Otty and myself, which has been epitomised by the company’s increasing market share and expected record turnover figures, and I’m proud that the team’s hard work has been recognised.

“It’s a very competitive category which identifies a number of varied companies, and I feel honoured to sit alongside other exciting leaders as one of the North’s best small business entrepreneurs, and am really looking forward to the final in November.”

Now in its sixth year, the NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards has celebrated a host of leading entrepreneurs over the years, many of whom are now household names. Past winners include David Buttress of Just Eat, Julie Deane OBE of The Cambridge Satchel Company, James Watt of BrewDog and, most recently, Hannah and Sophie Pycroft of Spectrum Collections.

The awards will celebrate entrepreneurship across a number of categories at five gala finals across the UK, in Cardiff, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester and London.
