Upholsterer Parker Knoll will officially open its new manufacturing facility on 9th May. Positioned in Nottinghamshire, just a few miles from its Derbyshire predecessor, Parker Knoll Castlewood is a purpose-built, open-plan premises spanning 100,000 sqft, combining a single-storey factory and two-storey office space, which will house over 250 members of staff.
The building’s infrastructure has been designed to create an ecological and effective working space from the outset. From the sustainable procurement of materials, to water consumption monitoring and the automatic dimming of factory lights throughout the day, Parker Knoll Castlewood has already achieved a high BREEAM rating.
The new facility allows for a significant growth in production of sofas and chairs – from 1500 to 2000 a week, to meet rising demand. A designated training space has also been created within the factory.

Parker Knoll Castlewood will be officially opened by Stephen McPartland (MP for Stevenage, chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Furniture Group, liveryman of the Furniture Makers’ Company and the chairman of the board of directors of The Furniture Ombudsman) on 9th May.
