Sofa manufacturer QFC, based in Grantham, Lincolnshire, offered over £45,000 worth of sofas and chairs to help people in Cumbria who had lost their furniture and belongings to floods late last year.
Gareth Mayhew, compliance manager at QFC, initiated the idea, contacting Eden Flood Volunteers in Cumbria to arrange deliveries.
The first delivery of sofas included 11 new armchairs and 54 sofas. The next consignment included 17 more pieces – in total over £45,400 in retail value, by far the largest donation received by Eden Flood Volunteers to date.
Rachel Chadwick, head of marketing at QFC, says: “We are pleased to offer our support for the Eden Flood Volunteers, and hope that the new sofas we have delivered to Cumbria will make life a little more comfortable for those households affected by the recent flooding.

QFC has worked with its suppliers – including Carpenter, United Fillings and Flameproofing – to make the donations possible. UPS provided free transport from Grantham to Penrith.
The Eden Flood Volunteers are keen to hear from manufacturers and retailers for further donations of furniture including beds, wardrobes, drawers, tables, lamps and kitchen equipment.
