RIP Bernard Deheegher, 1950-2021

Bernard Deheegher, the "face of Belgian furniture" at exhibitions at home and overseas for many years, passed away on 13th October aged 70.

Born in 1950, Bernard took up the role furniture export manager for Febelhout-Febelbois in 1984, and worked with Belgian industry association Fedustria from 2007, promoting BelgoFurn and working with a broad network of manufacturers, importers, traders, journalists and trade fair organisers until his retirement in January 2018.

"He radiated 'the good life' and conviviality," states Fedustria's obituary. "With his charm, he knew how to charm the most difficult contacts, which made it difficult to say 'no' to him, and often got things done that others could not, or could only with difficulty.

"His unexpected passing leaves a great void among many friends from the sector at home and abroad. Our sympathy goes in particular to his wife Martine and his children Benoit and Bénédicte."

A farewell celebration will take place on 23rd October in the parish church of St Bavo in Watou.
