Rooms Moscow/MIFS concludes positively

The second Rooms Moscow/MIFS exhibition concluded positively, attracting a reported 21,120 visitors to peruse 367 exhibitors from 11 countries, across an exhibition space of 34,000m². Rooms Moscow/MIFS (Moscow International Furniture Show) is one of the most important furniture fairs in the rapidly-developing Russian market.

“It was a successful premiere for Rooms Moscow/MIFS,” says Gerald Böse, CEO of fair organiser Koelnmesse. “In particular, the huge interest shown by visitors, who came from the entire Russian Federation, is a clear indication that the time was ripe for this kind of trade show format. We can build on this positive response and work on the strategic development of the trade fair together with our Russian partners. Our declared aim for the future is to establish it as the most important furniture fair in Russia."

Dirk-Uwe Klaas, chief executive of the Association of the German Furniture Industry (Verband der Deutschen Möbelindustrie), came to a similar conclusion. “Thanks to the event’s convincing concept, the modern exhibition grounds and optimal timing, the German furniture industry sees the Rooms Moscow/MIFS fair that ended on 25th May as a good platform in a major growth market,” he says. “We support Rooms Moscow/MIFS and intend to participate in this fair in the form of a joint German stand in future too, enabling us to further expand our members’ presence on the Russian market.”

Alexey Striganov, director general of co-organiser Media Globe Krokus (MGK), adds: “In May 2013, the Moscow International Furniture Show/Rooms Moscow took place for the second time. As compared to last year, the exhibition space increased by 30%. Together with our partner Koelnmesse, we have set ourselves the ambitious goal not just of creating a commercially successful project but an event that will promote the development of the entire furniture industry as well. I think we got off to a very good start, with excellent potential for the furniture sector.”

The show was supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia, and various other organisations and associations within the sector.

The next Rooms Moscow/MIFS will take place from 20-24th May, 2014.
