sofa.com will open its biggest showroom to date, in Finnieston, Glasgow on 15th September. With sofa.com showrooms established in Chelsea, Islington, Bankside, Bath, Edinburgh and Amsterdam, the opening of the 7800 sqft store represents something of a homecoming for the company’s Glaswegian CEO, Vince Gunn.
“I’m absolutely delighted to introduce sofa.com to my home town,” says Vince. “As a business, we seek out buildings that are full of history and character, and set in unique locations, so we can create retail spaces that really inspire. Glasgow has always been in our sights to host a showroom, but we wanted to take our time until the right premises became available. I’m so pleased we did, because our Finnieston showroom fits the bill perfectly.
“Not only is the building a former auction house, but it is also situated amongst the Georgian terraces of St Vincent Crescent, within a conservation area full of architectural and historical interest. We always aim to respect the area that we move our brand into – ensuring that we enhance the local community and its surrounding areas. It’s wonderful that there’s such a buzz about Finnieston at the moment and we’re looking forward to being a part of it.”
sofa.com has created a number of jobs in Scotland during the course of the last year – not only through the opening of its newest Glasgow showroom, as well as the Edinburgh showroom at the end of 2015, but also through its distribution facility in Alloa. “People are integral to sofa.com and we are delighted to increase the numbers of our Scottish team with the launch of our Glasgow showroom,” says Vince.
“I have always regarded Glasgow as a city of commerce and I know that Glaswegians are very brand aware. As such, coming to Glasgow represents a huge market opportunity for sofa.com as there is nowhere else in the city where people can come to visit nearly 8000 sqft of inspiring furniture design.”
