Sold out afternoon tea for local cancer charity aims to raise record amount

Local residents eager to support a Sutton Coldfield cancer charity have snapped up all available spaces for the event in record time.

Cookes Furniture is hosting a special festive afternoon tea on Saturday 3rd December to raise money for local cancer charity Breast Friends.

The Midlands store will be hosting the event at Cookes’ in-store restaurant Edward’s, where customers can enjoy afternoon tea with a complimentary glass of mulled wine and Christmas Carols from the Sutton Coldfield Chamber Choir.

Tickets for the event sold out in record time at £12.50 each with all proceeds going to the charity.

Breast Friends, a support group based at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, will also be celebrating its 20th anniversary at the event. The charity is run by volunteers who have all been diagnosed with breast cancer and aims to help local women with cancer through a difficult time by offering friendship, support, emotional and practical help.

Vanessa Hoe, marketing director at Cookes Furniture, says: “We are delighted to be hosting another charity afternoon tea for Breast Friends. We are aiming to donate more than the £1300, the amount we raised at our last event for them. As tickets for the event are a total sell out, it just shows how much support this wonderful charity has at a local level.

"Although the event is sold out there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved and support Breast Friends. We will be holding a raffle on the Saturday but you can also support them by donating to their Just Giving Page https://www.justgiving.com/breast-friends. We look forward to another highly memorable occasion and are delighted to continue supporting Breast Friends in 2017."
