Textile design students develop feature for January show

Budding designers from Birmingham City University will unveil a range of new design concepts at the 2016 January Furniture Show. The BA Textile Design students, who work with trends forecasted by international industry expert Global Color Research, will bring to life two roomsets - Strata and Play - featuring textiles, ceramics, lighting and wall and floorcoverings at the exhibition, which runs from 24-27th January at the NEC, Birmingham.

Charmaine Stint, programme manager of Birmingham City University, says: "We are delighted to have been offered stand space at the January Furniture Show - the main furniture industry trade event - where our students can present their ideas to a key audience.

"We work with a range of industry partners and collaborators to provide new concepts which are fresh and engaging. Our students can always be relied upon for new thinking and impressive outcomes which generate some truly innovative content. It's this innovation which drives us and our partners to push the boundaries and is one of the most motivating elements of this showcase."

Steve Richards, co-director of the January Furniture Show, adds: "This is a great opportunity to see what some of the potential stars of the furniture future have got to say when it comes to home furnishings and interior designs. We are looking forward to seeing what is unveiled at the show."
