The Ombuds Group named one of the UK’s best places to work

As World Ombuds Day 2025 highlights the role ombudsman services play across the globe, The Ombuds Group shares that it has been officially recognised as one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work in 2025.

"This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication, passion and commitment of the people who make the organisation what it is today," states the group.

The recognition follows an independent survey based entirely on employee feedback and celebrates outstanding workplace culture, wellbeing, inclusivity and leadership.

The Ombuds Group scored exceptionally well across several key categories, including job satisfaction, diversity and inclusion, employee empowerment and wellbeing. The results showcase a culture built on fairness, flexibility and mutual respect.

The organisation was featured in The Sunday Times as part of its annual nationwide list of the UK’s top 500 employers. The article highlighted The Ombuds Group’s 32-hour working week and four-day week option, which promote a strong work-life balance, alongside additional staff benefits including private healthcare, up to 34 days’ annual leave, birthdays off, and reward vouchers for exceptional performance.

The independent, not-for-profit organisation was also praised for supporting professional development by sponsoring Chartered Institute of Arbitrators membership and delivering specialist skills training.

Kevin Grix, chief executive and chief ombudsman at The Ombuds Group, says: “World Ombuds Day is about raising awareness of the important role ombudsman schemes play in ensuring fairness and accountability. For us, it’s also a chance to celebrate the people who make that possible. Being recognised by The Sunday Times as a Best Place to Work is testament to the dedication and commitment of our staff, and we are delighted to mark both achievements together.”

The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025 recognises the UK’s most outstanding employers across sectors and sizes, judged against criteria including leadership, reward, culture, and the employee experience. The list also highlights those going above and beyond in their support for women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, disabled workers, ethnic minorities and employees of all ages.
