Vietnamese associations come together to promote new fair

This morning, the leaders of five of Vietnam's wood-processing industry associations (VIFOREST, HAWA, BIFA, DOWA, and FPA Binh Dinh) gathered in Ho Chi Minh City to announce a strategic co-operation for joint development. The trade promotion activities of the five associations will henceforce take place under one banner, Viforest Fair.

“This co-operation aims to bring common strength, create a more favourable and winning business environment for all enterprises. Further, it is to raise the position of Vietnam's wood processing industry on the world furniture export map," says Do Xuan Lap, chairman of VIFOREST.

The first event to take place under this new alliance will be the Ho Chi Minh Export Furniture Fair (HawaExpo) 2023, which runs from 22nd-25th February at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center.

HawaExpo 2023 kicks off a series of furniture fairs in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and China this spring, a circuit which had long been interrupted due to the pandemic.

Vietnam's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Le Minh Hoan, comments: “HawaExpo 2023 is an important trade promotion event to introduce new products and new technologies of local forest product manufacturing. At the same time, it is an opportunity for businesses to show off their ability, bring out their best services in the supply chain, then contribute to promoting the development of the wood processing industry and forest product trade in Vietnam stably and sustainably.”

HAWA says it is working with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism to create the best experience for visiting international buyers this year.
