Wilkinson Furniture lets substantial unit

This month, the Adlington, Cheshire-based Wilkinson Furniture will relocate to a new 84,000 sqft unit on Lawnhurst Trading Estate in Cheadle, Cheshire.

The letting is a substantial one, claimed to be "the largest industrial letting in south Manchester this year". A five-year lease has  been agreed for the property.

Coupled with the company's 250,000 sqft Ireland-based warehouse, the new stock capacity will make Wilkinson one of the largest furniture wholesalers in the UK.

"One highly motivating benefit of the new facility is that it will give us the ability to provide vastly-improved customer service and a fantastic delivery service," says Wilkinson's general manager, Vern Hutchins.

"Very soon we will be opening a large showroom where you will be able to see lots of ranges of dining, bedroom, upholstery and occasional furniture. This will be a fantastic venue for retailers to source a wide range of products from one source. With upholstery sales now growing rapidly we plan to continue to build on our current offering, which has been received favourably by our customers.

"Sales were 85% up in September on the same month last year. This rapid growth is largely due to the launch of many new ranges which have proved a huge success. Our strong contemporary offering will continue to be built upon, and there will be a wide selection of products on show at the forthcoming NEC show. Our new 140 page brochure contains many excellent collections ,and this will continue to grow in the coming months," Vern concludes.
